You Have SOOOO Many Tools.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered what can make a difference? Quite often we don't realize how many tools are at our own disposal. The secret for maintaining a youthful glow has been a constant question since the beginning of time. (just ask Cleopatra). You don't always have to fork out for a facial...although the health of your skin could benefit....but we understand not everyone can do it. We've totally believe there are tools that CAN make a difference and really don't cost much, if anything. The most important things we can do to achieve "a glow" are actually quite simple and 100% in our control. We can’t 100% stop the natural aging process but our skin can still look more vibrant if we put in the work. You don't always have to resort to Botox and fillers....although if that's your jam, that's okay....but let's try some of the tips we've put together here first:
Detox: It’s important to detox and cleanse our gut and insides, getting rid of nasty toxins lurking in our bodies. Our metabolism does this by itself, to a certain degree, but in everyday life we are exposed to many chemical hazards from air, food, and the environment. Try working with a Naturopath or Dietician and check with your MD first before embarking on any kind of cleanse or detox. Don't underestimate the power of the proper balance of food, vitamins and minerals that are included in a cleansing, healthy diet. Whether you suffer from early onset aging with deep wrinkles and sagging skin, sun damage or acne, your skin will love you for these changes.
Sleep: Getting enough sleep, at least 6-8 hours a day, will make our skin healthier just by default. Having a good sleep is vitally important because the body's growth hormone is working while we sleep. Cells throughout our entire body are being renewed. Our skin will look fresh and healthy if we have enough sleep - guaranteed. With that said, ever wake up and still look dog tired?....you can see that your skin is dull and needs energy, just like the rest of you. Sleep hygiene is super important and even if your lifestyle interferes (we totally get it) try downloading a sleep APP to help you relax and drift off. Stay on schedule with your night and morning schedule as much as possible so your internal clock gets familiar with shut eye time.
Exercise: Through routine exercise, we usually feel much happier, energetic, and confident. It also increases our bone density and muscle, which can make our body (including face) look and feel younger. Enough said - Put on your runner and grab the dog leash or stroller and off you go. Get ready for pink cheeks and better circulation.
Relax: Stress and worry shows on our face. We can't help having intense emotions and it's totally okay to feel cranky - but just know you may be wearing that energy. Have you ever seen someone light up when they smile? Well, that smile doesn't cost anything, you can't buy it in a store and you can't smear it on your face....well you kinda can....you get the picture. If you have a hard time letting go of your day or situations and can't relax, try a meditation APP or find some on YouTube. There are some great free resources. I've been even known to do a meditation in the bathtub!! Nothing wrong with multitasking.
Be Positive: A positive mindset and positive affirmations can lead to a healthier life - hands down SO true. Negative thoughts tend to make us look and feel sad and anxiety ridden. Find inspiration and seek help if necessary, to find meaning and positivity in your life. You are enough...you are lacking nothing because love and light resides within you....let those thoughts light up your smile and become a mantra.
Medical Check-up: Just like a car, our body also needs attention and care so it can work well every day. Having routine medical checkups is important so that potential disease is found as soon as possible. Remember to book your mammogram and Pap. Remember to see a dermatologist to get your moles checked. Lastly, wear your SPF every day.
Active Life: Being active doesn't always mean running for miles or engaging in intense work outs. It could be as simple as a walk around the block, or even gentle chair yoga for those who aren't as mobile. Get your blood pumping even if it's a little bit. Your cardiovascular system needs you to get your heart rate up to stay in shape. Who wants to go for a beach walk?
Social Life: A rich and happy social life can lift up our spirits, soothe our mind and make us feel young and vital. Communication with our friends, family, neighbours and work colleagues can help us feel needed and loved. Even in a global pandemic we can achieve some social activity. Reach out to people you haven't talked to in a while and see how happy they are when you do....in turn you will be as well.
So there you go. Tips for a a healthier glow that cost nothing......that you can do yourself.....that will keep you healthier.
Best in Health
